BLEPHAROPLASTY (eyelids surgerey)

Description :	A surgical technique which eliminates the unsightly bags under the eyes and the excess of skin and fat from the eyelids. This surgical procedure corrects the excess that makes the eyelids droopy and wrinkled. These deformities, which impair the visual field, are most often caused by aging and skin sagging, but they can appear due to secondary reasons such as a family predisposition or as a consequence of too much exposure to the sun.
Technique :	The operation is performed under local anesthesia. The specialist makes an incision on the underside of the upper eyelid or close to the edge of the lower eyelid, then he sections the skin on the eyelid in order to remove the excess of fat and skin. In this way, the skin can be tightened again, and the muscles are repositioned. The incision is sutured with extremely fine threads, the scars becoming quasi-invisible with time.

Practical information

Length of procedure:	2 hours on the 4 eyelids (30 minutes for the operations on the lower or upper eyelids.
Hospitalization	After the operation a night hospitalization is necessary
Results	The results are very good and long-lasting The bags disappear, the procedure increasing the clarity of vision. NB: It is possible to improve the wrinkles between the eyebrows by removing the excess of fat.
