Passport: For an under 30-day stay, European citizens do not need a visa.
A Belgian or French identity card is sufficient.

Population: the population of Romania is mostly orthodox.
The last census in March 2002 indicated a total population of 21,698,180 inhabitants.

Currency: the Romanian currency is the leu, in plural, lei.

Exchange rate: the exchange rate varies, being on 3rd February 2004 1 EURO to 39,468.15 lei.

Banks: it is possible to withdraw money from a banking machine in large towns, and to pay by card in some places such as hotels, exchange offices, etc.

Language: like French, the Romanian language is a Romance language. For its most part, it was influenced by Latin, Slavic and Turkish.

Vaccines: no vaccines are required in order to visit Romania.
You have to present a vaccination proof (for dogs and cats) at the Romanian border.

Time zone change: the Romanian time is GMT + 2, therefore here it is an hour later than in France or Belgium.

Climate: the Romanian climate is temperate.
